  4. E8 Markets logo

    E8 Markets

    Partially verified

    99/100

E8 Markets is the highest-rated firm on our whole list (trust 96, 4.8★), a US firm (founded 2021) on MT5, cTrader and TradeLocker with an 80% split and a clean, simple challenge. Code verifier takes 40% off E8 Pro for new users (30% recurring). On drawdown it's less forgiving than it looks: E8 One uses intraday dynamic trailing and E8 Signature uses end-of-day dynamic trailing — both only lock static after you bank the buffer, so there's no static-from-day-one option. FTMO is the reputational benchmark in CFD prop — funding traders since 2015 (Czech Republic) on MT4, MT5, cTrader and DXtrade, with a 90% split and the longest payout track record of anyone here (trust 92, 4.6★). Its 2-Step Challenge uses a static 10% max loss fixed on day one; the newer 1-Step uses a 10% end-of-day trailing drawdown, so pick the 2-Step if you want a fixed line. No discount code, but our link takes 20% off the Standard Challenges. From €79. Compare the plans below and confirm the live rules before buying.

  8. Funding Traders logo

    Funding Traders

    Partially verified

    91/100

Funding Traders is a US-registered (Miami-based FT US Inc), 2023-founded forex/CFD prop firm that funds traders on MetaTrader 5 and TradeLocker. It runs four account types — 2-Step Pro10, 2-Step Pro6, 1-Step and Instant Funded — from $5,000 up to $400,000, all on a static (balance-based) max loss that does not trail, with 80–100% profit splits and a 48-hour payout guarantee. Entry is cheap (a 2-Step Pro6 $5K from ~$25) and Instant Funded skips the challenge with a 90% split from day one. The catch is a strict 2% max risk-per-trade rule on funded accounts plus plan-specific consistency rules, so read the guidelines for your exact plan. It rates ~4.5 on Trustpilot from 2,500+ reviews — compare its pricing, drawdown and payout terms below.

What swing traders need from a prop firm

Swing trading means holding positions for days or weeks, which puts you straight into the one rule day traders never think about: weekend and overnight holding. Plenty of firms flatten your positions before the Friday close or ban weekend holds outright — useless if your entire strategy is riding a multi-day move. The firms above allow weekend holding based on the rules we've verified.

Beyond that, swing traders need drawdown room. A tight intraday-trailing drawdown is punishing when a trade goes against you overnight before turning around, so a static or end-of-day drawdown usually suits swing strategies far better than a real-time trailing one.

The weekend-holding trap

This is the rule that catches swing traders out most, because it's rarely on the pricing banner. Confirm in writing that you can hold over the weekend, and check for swap/overnight financing costs, which add up on multi-day holds and eat into a funded account's returns. Some firms also treat holding through specific news events as a separate restriction.

Match the drawdown model to your style too — our guide to trailing vs static drawdown explains why a moving max-loss line is especially dangerous when you're not watching the screen. Each firm's card links to its full review with the weekend and drawdown rules we've verified.

Frequently asked questions

Which prop firms allow swing trading?

The firms ranked above permit holding positions over the weekend, which is the core requirement for swing trading. Always confirm the weekend-holding rule in writing before you buy, and check for overnight swap costs, since those add up over multi-day holds.

Can you hold trades over the weekend at a prop firm?

At some firms, yes — but many day-trading-focused firms flatten positions before the Friday close or ban weekend holds entirely. It's the rule swing traders most often miss, so verify it explicitly rather than assuming, and keep the firm's written answer.

Are prop firms good for swing trading?

They can be, if you pick one that allows weekend holding and gives you enough drawdown room. Favour firms with a static or end-of-day drawdown over intraday trailing, because a moving max-loss line is far riskier on positions you hold overnight and can't babysit.
