    100/100

The5ers is one of the highest-rated CFD firms on our list (trust 94, 4.7★), funding traders since 2016 (UK) on MT5, cTrader and TradingView. Its headline feature is the drawdown: every program uses a static, equity-based max loss fixed at your starting balance — it never trails. Cheap entry from $19, an 80% split, and code BR3HALTF takes 10% off plus a free second-chance account on phase 1 of the High Stakes accounts. 3. E8 Markets logo

    E8 Markets

    Partially verified

    99/100

E8 Markets is the highest-rated firm on our whole list (trust 96, 4.8★), a US firm (founded 2021) on MT5, cTrader and TradeLocker with an 80% split and a clean, simple challenge. Code verifier takes 40% off E8 Pro for new users (30% recurring). On drawdown it's less forgiving than it looks: E8 One uses intraday dynamic trailing and E8 Signature uses end-of-day dynamic trailing — both only lock static after you bank the buffer, so there's no static-from-day-one option. 99/100

Trade The Pool is a highly-rated prop firm built for stock traders (trust 96, 4.8★), from the established The5ers team (founded 2022, Israel), on MT5 with a 70% split from $59. Its drawdown is non-standard: the max loss is 3× your daily loss limit and rolls up as you bank profit (a profit-lock), capping at your tier balance — not a static or standard-% line, so read it carefully. Code OC4 takes 10% off plus a free second-chance account on the 5K and 25K Day Trade Flex accounts. Compare the plans below and confirm the live rules before buying.

FTMO is the reputational benchmark in CFD prop — funding traders since 2015 (Czech Republic) on MT4, MT5, cTrader and DXtrade, with a 90% split and the longest payout track record of anyone here (trust 92, 4.6★). Its 2-Step Challenge uses a static 10% max loss fixed on day one; the newer 1-Step uses a 10% end-of-day trailing drawdown, so pick the 2-Step if you want a fixed line. No discount code, but our link takes 20% off the Standard Challenges. From €79. Compare the plans below and confirm the live rules before buying.

Why MT5 is the default for prop trading

MetaTrader 5 is the most widely supported platform in the prop industry. It handles forex, indices, metals, oil and crypto CFDs in one terminal, runs Expert Advisors and custom indicators, and almost every CFD/forex firm offers it. If you're coming from retail trading, you probably already know it — which is a real advantage when you're also learning a new firm's rules.

MT5 also plays nicely with tools that keep you inside the rules. You can run drawdown monitors, news guards and risk dashboards directly in the terminal, which matters when a single missed news event or forgotten stop can breach a funded account.

What to check on an MT5 prop firm

MT5 isn't MT4 — some firms still offer only MT4, and EAs written for one don't run on the other, so confirm the version. Then check the broker and execution behind the platform, and the rules that actually decide your account: the drawdown type, how the daily loss is calculated, and the news and weekend rules.

Our free MT5 dashboard adds live drawdown tracking and a news guard to any MT5 chart, so you can see your limits and block trading around high-impact releases. Each firm's card links to its full review with the platform and rules we've verified.

Frequently asked questions

Which prop firms use MT5?

Most CFD/forex firms do — the ranking above lists the firms we've verified as supporting MetaTrader 5. Some offer MT5 alongside MT4 and cTrader, so if MT5 specifically matters (for example to run an existing EA), confirm it's available on the account you're buying.

Is MT5 better than MT4 for prop firms?

MT5 is newer, handles more asset classes, has a better strategy tester and supports more order types, which is why most firms have moved to it. MT4 is still fine for pure forex EAs. The bigger point for prop trading is that EAs and indicators aren't cross-compatible, so pick the platform your tools are built for.

Can you use EAs on an MT5 prop firm account?

At firms that allow automated trading, yes — MT5 fully supports Expert Advisors. But 'MT5 supported' and 'EAs allowed' are two different rules; some MT5 firms still ban automated or high-frequency trading. Check the automated-trading rule, not just the platform.
